Kehr-Buffalo Wire Frame's reputation for fabricating intricate spring solutions is well known throughout the industry. This is what brought this torsion spring project to us. The client needed a spring that would be used in a high performance automobile brake. This aftermarket torsion spring required complex ends and fabrication to tight tolerances.
Fabrication began with spring forming 0.120" diameter T302 stainless steel into a 2.31" long, 1.33" high, 1.24" wide torsion spring that had a coil inner diameter of 0.812". The spring had 3.25 total coils and was finished with a dry film coating. This application required a spring made to precision measurements and we met that with tightest tolerances to ± 0.010" and angular tolerances of ± 0.5°. Producing 250 springs in 10 days fulfilled the requirements of this client.
