In need of an extension spring with complex end hooks, a conveyor industry client knew that Kehr-Buffalo Wire Frame was the company to turn to for this product. The application required an extension spring with reduced coils on each end that would be used in a clamping device in a packaging plant. These end hooks increase the life expectancy of the spring.
The springs were made using our CNC spring forming equipment from spring steel music wire with a diameter of 0.080″. Measuring 0.750″ outer diameter and 1.80″ initial length, the springs were made with coil specifications to 5.8 lb of initial tension, 11.5 total coils, and 11 active coils. The springs were heat treated to 425°F and had a plain finish. Throughout the fabrication process, the springs received dimensional inspections, visual inspections, and tension/load testing. We worked to tightest tolerances of ± 0.010″ on this spring project.
Our state of the art production equipment and our years of experience combine to produce exceptionally high-quality custom springs for any application. The following table outlines this steel extension spring project.
